Linus Straßer confirmed his outstanding performance in the Kitzbühel classic and also achieved first place in the night race in Schladming. Despite the pouring rain, he didn't let himself be slowed down and won the race confidently.
Timon Haugan from Norway and Clement Noel from France also showed strong performances and took second and third place.
As the best Austrian, Manuel Feller reached 5th place. Over 20,000 enthusiastic fans once again celebrated a superlative ski festival in Schladming on the Planai.
The Frenchman Clement Noel won the night race in Schladming. Ramon Zenhäuser (SUI) came second and Lucas Braathen (NOR) came third. Manuel Feller, who was in second place after the first run, missed the podium by just seven hundredths of a second.
Manuel Feller is once again the best Austrian, but unfortunately he narrowly missed out on the podium. “The steep slope wasn’t good enough. I'll put it this way: fourth place isn't bad. I would take fourth place anywhere else, but right now I would give a lot to turn last year and this year around.
Fabio Gstrein made it into the top ten again, as he did in Kitzbühel. As the second best Austrian, he came ninth and made up a few places in the second run.
There were some small mistakes in the runs of Marco Schwarz and Johannes Strolz and so it was only 16th place for Johannes Strolz and 25th place for Marco Schwarz.
At the night race in Schladming, Manuel Feller managed an incredible comeback in the second round. The Tyrolean catapulted himself onto the podium from 28th place. The victory went to the German Linus Strasser and Atle Lie Mcgrath (NOR) took second place.
The first round was anything but as desired for the ÖSV men. Only two Austrians were able to qualify for the decision. Manuel Feller, who was back after recovering from Covid infection, struggled with a serious mistake in the upper part and only went into the second round in 28th place. There the Tyrolean ignited a rocket and showed a true dream run.
The 29-year-old made up a total of 25 positions and achieved what was hardly thought possible. With third place, Feller made it onto the podium for the fifth time this season and also celebrated his first podium finish in Schladming.
The Nightrace – “a crime thriller as a silent film”
... that's how the 24th Nightrace was titled in print media. A headline that couldn't be better. No fans, lots of snow and a man who outshone everything. Marco Schwarz took his first victory in the classic on the Planai. Clement Noel took second place, Alexis Pinturault took the bronze medal with the fastest time in the second round.
This year's TV media spectacle had an audience rating of almost 2 million. 687,000 including online stream (approx. 200,00) on German television.
"For the fourth time, the winner of the floodlight spectacle on the Planai is Henrik Kristoffersen."
Despite a serious mistake in the second run, the World Cup leader took the lead in front of almost 40,000 spectators and relegated Alexis Pinturault (+0.34) and Daniel Yule (+0.83) to the top spots. “How is it possible to win a race with such a mistake? I think from the mistake onwards it was a strong run.”
The leader after the first round, Marco Schwarz, was eliminated in the final after just a few goals. “It's a shame, I wanted to win this. The atmosphere was tremendous, but it didn’t unsettle me.”
